My client is a multi-disciplined Tier One Civil Engineering contractor, with its parent group turning over in circa of £1b. They work with both public and private sector customers in the specialist sectors of rail, highways and engineering. Their clients include HS2, Highways England and well-known residential and commercial developers. They deliver nationally but are organised regionally. As a company, they pride themselves on the technical capabilities of their staff, their high standard of work and the amount of repeat business they are rewarded. The specific Civil Engineering arm is turning over approximately £150M from work including Highways Infrastructure, Airport projects, 278 works, Landscaping and the occasional work on Rail Depots. The projects involve extensive concrete works, deep drainage and heavy earthworks and they range in value from £1m - £150M. They are a very sociable company, always hosting a summer party and a Christmas party, giving you the opportunity to interact with other teams on a personal level, staff morale is exceptionally high and a prime focus for the business.
About the opportunity:
Due to continued successful growth, our client is recruiting permanently for a Bid Writer with to support the commercial team and work in conjunction with the Business Development Team on pre-qualification / selection questions and all invitation to tender submissions for their civil engineering schemes. As a Bid Writer, you will be responsible for managing several bids at once in a demanding and fast paced environment; proof reading and rewriting inbound tender information; creating visually attractive client presentations for pre/during/post tender period; maintaining and improving the bid response library, including reviewing post tender submission client feedback and managing the end-to-end bid process to name just a few duties.
About the benefits and rewards:
For this permanent opportunity, my client is targeting professionals looking to earn anywhere from £38,000 - £50,000 per annum however there may be flexibility on this as the specific salary will depend on experience and suitability. Furthermore, a generous package will be offered including 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), 5% contribution to your pension and private medical cover.
About the requirements:
In order to be considered for this opportunity, it is essential you hold 3 years’ experience within bid writing which must have been gained whilst working within the civil engineering industry in the UK. As a Bid Writer, you will be able to write a variety of responses and documents, demonstrate good use of English and have the ability to convert draft notes into proposals. Due to the nature of the opportunity, you must be able to show the ability to work to strict deadlines, hold good IT skills and have experience of InDesign.
