Continental Shift (6am-6pm & 6pm-6am Monday to Sunday)

Our client are a leading manufacturer and supplier of titanium products. Reporting to the Business Unit Manager, this role has overall responsibility for Safety, Quality, Equipment, throughput, cost, delivery and personnel on shift. The role will take direction from the Business Unit Manager on plant priorities to meet the targets for the shift in line with business needs. In addition, the role will be responsible for the identification of performance improvement plans, including Zero Harm, Zero Defects, Productivity and OEE.

Job Description

Will be accountable for leading, motivating and engaging with Production Team Leaders and Production Operators through effective communication e.g. team briefings, regular interaction on the shop floor, involvement in Zero Harm and Zero Defects teams.
Is accountable for ensuring the daily plan is adhered to, and achieved by the production team
Is responsible for achieving throughput while meeting and exceeding productivity targets by reviewing and planning for:
Daily, weekly, and quarterly labour
Equipment, tooling and supply requirements
Will establish priorities relating to plant requirements, communicating with supporting departments to ensure business needs are met
Will lead the team in developing and implementing effective systems for improving internal and external quality, cost improvements and on-time delivery to the customer requirements.
Accountable for daily analysis of variable labour costs, working with Production Team leaders to determine required staffing levels and support labour re-allocation across the plant as required.
Will carry out management responsibilities including recruiting, and training employees; planning, directing work; evaluating and appraising individual performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Is accountable for flexibility of the workforce to address skills gaps and create an adaptable workforce and will be responsible for Training Needs Analysis for the team
Will deploy Engineering Craft and Quality to shift priorities to ensure Metrics are met
Will control departmental budget through the daily flex and management of outwork
Is accountable for all aspects of HSE that arise on shift and require follow up, must continuously promote safe systems of work and is responsible for any accident investigations, incident reporting and risk assessments are dealt with and corrective actions are closed out in a timely manner
Will use Process Improvement and Lean Manufacturing Tools such as SPC, FMEAs, 6S and Lean Sigma structured problem-solving techniques to drive improvements
Will be an area owner for 6S and attend weekly meetings communicate updates to all members of Operations team
Will lead an area on Zero Harm, driving risk reduction using the PDCA cycle
Is responsible for ensuring Operation adherence to Preventative Maintenance Plan and will attend weekly Planned Maintenance review meeting.
Is responsible for managing the performance of direct reports and other team members to include annual appraisal, performance management and identifying development opportunities
Will work with Human Resources on people management issues including disciplinaries, grievances and performance related issues
Will develop a working relationship with union representatives, keeping them informed of decisions and changes within the plant 

Production Manager

Essential Qualifications / Experience / Skills

Must be either of graduate calibre with management diploma and/or have equivalent experience within a management role in a unionised environment
Will have professional advancement in a manufacturing environment
Demonstrable experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment preferably in aerospace

Demonstrable experience and exposure to a union environment would be advantageous
