Our client, a highly successful and well-established Steel Fabrication business is looking for an Operations (Managing) Director to head the day-to-day running and to develop and grow the business further.

You will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans to achieve sustainable growth, along with other long and short-term business goals. You will have the support of the senior management team and other group/divisional directors.

The business prides itself on its high industry standards and recognition and is looking for someone to continue and drive this forward, therefore prior experience within the Steel Industry is essential.

Operations (Managing) Director duties include:

• Developing and executing business strategies to achieve short and long-term goals.
• Reporting to the board, providing market insights, and offering strategic advice.
• Developing and driving the company's strategic direction in alignment with industry trends and market demands.
• Developing and implementing business plans to improve cost-efficiency.
• Maintaining, building upon, and establishing new network relationships within the steelwork fabrication and related sectors – suppliers, shareholders, partners, authorities etc
• Overseeing the company's business operations, financial performance, investments, and ventures.
• Supervising, guiding, and delegating executives in their duties.
• Ensuring company policies and legal guidelines are clearly communicated.
• Assessing, managing, and resolving problematic developments and situations.
• Building and enhancing the company's public profile at events, speaking engagements, etc.

Operations (Managing) Director requirements:

• Comprehensive understanding of steel fabrication within the construction industry (processes, techniques, and technologies).
• Experience and knowledge of modern methods of construction such as light gauge steel framing would be advantageous.
• Ability to foster a positive company culture, promote teamwork, and manage organisational change.
• Experience working in a senior management role.
• Experience in developing and implementing strategic and business plans.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to perform in high-pressure situations.
• Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
• Experience in BIM/Design Technologies.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Degree in business, marketing, or a related field is advantageous but not essential.
