Accounts Manager

Outskirts of Cardiff

£28,000 - £35,000 DOE

Full Time (37.5 Hours per Week)

Annual Leave: 25 Days + Bank Holidays

A well-established and friendly construction business based on the outskirts of Cardiff is looking for an experienced Accounts Manager to join their close-knit team. This is a fully office-based role, offering a stable and supportive environment, ideal for someone who enjoys a hands-on finance position and isn't looking to pursue further qualifications.

You’ll work directly with the Finance Director, taking ownership of a wide range of responsibilities to ensure the smooth running of the finance function. The business is fast-paced, and the team is down-to-earth and welcoming, perfect for someone who thrives in a busy but friendly office.

Key Responsibilities:

* Full maintenance of the purchase ledger across multiple trading branches

* Supplier management, including invoice processing, batch payments, and reconciliations

* Monthly petty cash and bank reconciliations

* Credit card statement postings

* Monthly payroll processing, including HMRC and pension submissions

* Sales invoice processing and credit control

* Preparation and submission of quarterly VAT returns

* General admin tasks, including occasional phone cover

* Stock accounting

* Preparation and posting of prepayment and accrual journals

* Assist in preparing month-end management accounts for FD review

Candidate Profile:

We’re looking for someone with a solid finance background and great attention to detail. This role would suit an AAT-qualified individual who’s happy with their current level and not looking to continue with further studies.

Essential:

* Knowledge of Microsoft Excel

* Experience working in a busy finance environment

* Strong communication skills

* Working knowledge of an accounting software package, Sage and Xero would be highly advantageous

* Experience of stock accounting

* Experience processing payroll

* Understanding of VAT
